I'm in a season of being open and honest and every time I write to you all I want to try to be as real as I can. I'm sharing what I've gone through while still going through many challenges. For example, this past Sunday I was cranky, full of negative thoughts and beginning to feel overwhelmed, even when I really had nothing to complain about. After realizing my actions and thoughts I sought out inspiration, motivation, and got hit with a question. Who am I?
I watched a video of a student-led interview at Stanford College with Oprah Winfrey and I heard her say these two things; know who you are and what your intentions are. She later explained that this is what made her show #1 for 25 years! That hit me like a ton of bricks because I know clearly what I am not and I'm always so focused on all the things on my to-do list that I forget the real reason of why I am even doing it all. I had to take a step back and think.
This post is short because I'm taking this week to focus on these two questions and come to my own truths. Here is what I do know, I am a creative person and when I am not creative I am off balance. While continuing to listen to other interviews and motivational speeches this is what I did...
Sunday I woke up not feeling good about myself and where I was at in life but I chose to change my focus and ended my day creating, being inspired, and motivated. We cannot allow our emotions and temporary situations to control us. Reminding myself that I am a creative being pulled me back into realignment so imagine what else I could accomplish if I remind myself daily who I am and own it!
Now I want to give you something to think about.
Who are you?
What are your intentions for today?
Do you have a vision board?
